# Notification groups

Notification groups are used throughout Brigge, wherever you configure email message recipients - for example, in *Pipeline settings* for [run failure notifications](/documentation/brigge-for-transformers/pipelines/pipeline-settings.md#failure-notifications), or in [*Notification* nodes](/documentation/brigge-for-transformers/pipelines/pipeline-nodes/notification-node.md).

When [creating notification groups](#creating-a-notification-group), you add recipients - these can be external contacts (added via their email address) or other platform users associated with your organisation. As soon as you add a recipient, an opt-in email is sent to the associated email address.

{% hint style="warning" %}
Recipients will not receive notification emails until they activate the 'opt-in' link in the message they receive. If a user advises that they are not receiving notifications, the most likely reason is that they did not opt in. You can [resend an opt-in email](#resending-a-notification-opt-in-email) at any time.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

## Working with notification groups

<details>

<summary>Viewing existing notification groups</summary>

To view existing notification groups for your organisation, select *Settings* from the navigation menu, then select *Notification groups* from the *Company management* section. All existing notification groups are shown. For example:

<div data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://2172380191-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F8IqdqwZowcxtFpZfLa6k%2Fuploads%2Fz22DJMLc4TmIcohKTJng%2Fview%20notification%20groups.png?alt=media&amp;token=92a669bc-736c-4047-8cf4-c42b8dcd404d" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

From here, click any group to view or [update the content](#viewing-and-updating-notification-group-recipients). For example:

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://2172380191-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F8IqdqwZowcxtFpZfLa6k%2Fuploads%2Fb9s5E40H6B68yy2opl2K%2Fview%20notification%20groups%202.png?alt=media&amp;token=cc080ec4-7564-442a-97ae-398abffcd3e7" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

</details>

<details>

<summary>Creating a notification group</summary>

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
**Launch the create notification group wizard**

Access existing *Notification groups*, then click the `create notification group` button. For example:

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://2172380191-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F8IqdqwZowcxtFpZfLa6k%2Fuploads%2FiucZOJn2T5KUPJUJX1sT%2Fcreate%20notification%20group%201.png?alt=media&amp;token=b22416f6-8157-4318-800c-f56904a8c8b7" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Provide a name for the notification group**

Enter a `name` for this group, then click the `save` button. For example:

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://2172380191-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F8IqdqwZowcxtFpZfLa6k%2Fuploads%2FZiehw6OrwgsDrQDRFl92%2Fcreate%20notification%20group%202.png?alt=media&amp;token=b9d695e7-ee9b-452c-a358-bbcd0187b56f" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
**Add recipients**

Click the `add recipients` button:

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://2172380191-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F8IqdqwZowcxtFpZfLa6k%2Fuploads%2FLA9R909NTaTlN4jvtNo4%2Fcreate%20notification%20group%203.png?alt=media&amp;token=505f1d26-a2e3-452c-bd88-22c1bdcb7828" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Now you can choose to add recipients by their email address (typically used for external users) - for example:

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://2172380191-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F8IqdqwZowcxtFpZfLa6k%2Fuploads%2FAl0rtvMEMsf7I5sTNWv5%2Fcreate%20notification%20group%204.png?alt=media&amp;token=3e0a4cb9-1eea-4ac7-9fb1-d6c9c5906637" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Or, set the `recipient type` to `platform user` and select other platform users within your organisation (notification emails are sent to their [Brigge account email address](/documentation/users.md#viewing-and-updating-user-details)):

<div align="left" data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://2172380191-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2F8IqdqwZowcxtFpZfLa6k%2Fuploads%2FTmhqrhvGaqnz8fIeQSSk%2Fcreate%20notification%20group%205.png?alt=media&amp;token=3e2d986d-4c6e-4ce7-a848-80061f162aba" alt="" width="375"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

As soon as you add a recipient, an opt-in email is sent to the associated email address.&#x20;

{% hint style="warning" %}
Recipients will not receive notification emails until they activate the 'opt-in' link in the message they receive. If a user advises that they are not receiving notifications, the most likely reason is that they did not opt in. You can [resend an opt-in email](#resending-a-notification-opt-in-email) at any time.&#x20;
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
When adding platform users, you can select from any users within your organisation.
{% endhint %}

{% hint style="info" %}
Having added a recipient's email address, you can't change it subsequently. If you find that an email address is incorrect, [delete it](#deleting-notification-group-recipients) and add the recipient again.
{% endhint %}
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

</details>
